Mandatory Liability Coverage

The first option is the Released Value of Mandatory Liability Coverage. It is a part of our basic offer and is cost-free. It will cover 60 cents per pound of damaged or lost goods. For example, if a sofa weighing 300lb gets harmed lost during the move, you will be compensated $180. With it, all of your items will be covered during the interstate move.

It is the best choice for goods that hold no emotional or monetary value to you. However, keep in mind that this insurance sometimes doesn’t provide enough protection. Do the math and see what the best option for you is.

Full Value Replacement

On the other hand, Full Value Replacement is an additional policy that comes at extra cost. It implies that you’ll be compensated based on the actual value of the damaged or lost item – there is no pound-counting necessary. The company will repair or replace damaged objects, or you will get financial reimbursement. However, Full Value Replacement applies only to the items packed by our professional packers.

Our Liability Does Get Limited Sometimes, so Ensure to Know When

Sometimes the damage may not be the consequence of our actions, but of the customer’s, and in that case, the policy doesn’t cover the damage. We aim to relocate all your belongings safely and efficiently to your new home. Our goal is not for some of them to get harmed or destroyed during the move, and neither is yours. According to it, it would be best to avoid:

Packing hazardous, toxic, and corrosive materials, as well as perishables – you need to get familiar with the list of items movers won’t move. There are good reasons some of them are on it.
Packing belongings on your own – customers are often new at packing and don’t have enough knowledge and experience, which can cause damage to some goods.
Not informing us that we are transporting a highly valuable item – moving companies have the right to limit their liability for high-value objects unless those belongings are officially stated.
Keep in mind that natural disasters also affect movers’ liability.

When Is the Right Time to File a Claim?

When our team gets to your new home, it’s unloading and unpacking time. While our long distance movers are reassembling furniture and getting boxes in your home, try as much as possible to see if some of your stuff is harmed. If you notice something, feel free to inform us immediately.

However, it doesn’t mean that we won’t accept claims after our team leaves your home. If you notice something is damaged while unpacking boxes we had packed earlier, you need to contact us. A satisfied customer is our ultimate goal, and we will try to solve the situation in your favor. Just remember – the sooner you contact us, the better the possibilities are that you’ll get reimbursement.

My car is a really old Volvo and since it is now considered a vintage/retro automobile, I was extremely weary about having it transported to my area. This was my first time using a moving and transportation service. I had a very good experience with Manhattan Long Distance Movers and Auto Transport. So my boyfriend is actually the person that found Long Distance Movers and I swear it saved me time and money!
